Shakti Dance (for men and women)
Shakti Dance is called "the yoga of dance" and contains 8 different phases.
In the journey through the different phases, different parts of our being are awakened and we work our way through physical, mental and emotional planes simultaneously. Shakti Dance provides an opportunity to let go of stress and tension that does not serve us and brings us into contact with our life force, soul consciousness, gratitude - and also joy!
Each part and exercise in a Shakti Dance class aims to open and release subtle energy channels and help to align and balance the meridians, nadis, chakras, elements and our 10 bodies (yogic philosophy). This strengthens our self-sensory system which induces a state of transcendence and mindful presence with ourselves.
Shakti Dance uses dance (Shakti - feminine power) as a yogic tool to stimulate and balance the body's energies and through meditation, breath and mantra to turn safely inward (Shiva - masculine consciousness) and balance the mind. In the union of these two, feminine and masculine qualities within us, we can discover our truth at the heart of everything and the union between body, mind and soul.
Shakti Dance was created by Sara Avtar Olivier and has its roots in the science and tradition of Kundalini Yoga according to Yogi Bhajan who approved and blessed this practice.
Shakti Dance is open to all and is equally for men and women! It is not necessary to have a background in yoga or dance to join.
"The inner experience of the soul finds its highest expression in music and dance. These are two modes through which the human can express her being through her own physical vibration"- Sara Avtar Olivier
Barney yoga 6-12 years
About Barneyoga from 6-12 years
Barneyoga is play and exercises on children's terms that simultaneously strengthen their self-esteem from the inside out. At children's yoga, children learn yoga exercises through fairy tales, songs and short stories. Here we play with our breath and alternate between being active and resting. We focus on balance, coordination, breathing, yoga exercises, meditation and relaxation. Here the children encounter a loving space where they are seen as the magical creatures they are.
Why Barneyoga?
- To become stronger, gain better coordination and balance
- Increase concentration
- To find peace, harmony and stillness in one's own body
- For improved self-esteem and self-confidence
- Better sleep
- To stay healthy
- To have fun!
Barneyoga is first and foremost fun, while the experience of a center in itself regardless of achievements, emotions and thoughts grows in play as a good inner feeling.
In this way, Barneyoga opens a space where children can always come home to themselves and get in touch with their own unique potential, in a way that also reinforces the experience of belonging to a larger community.
Research
Research shows how yoga effectively strengthens children both mentally and physically. Children who do yoga have better coordination and focus, and have the ability to self-regulate, inner peace and balanced relationships. Yogi Bhajan was concerned that children born today have a high degree of sensitivity and awareness in an increasingly complex reality. In a time with many impressions to navigate, Kundalini yoga gives children a fun and exciting approach to learning and trusting their own inner teacher. This way, children can continue to be the happy little, big people they came into the world as.
